From the Chair-

May 15th already!  Only a month left before the close of late registration!  I know this is starting to sound tedious, but if you haven’t submitted your entry for the race, please do so as soon as possible.  It takes some time for the certificates to be generated and the certificates themselves can be dated no later than June 15th.

68 days until Race Day! To date, we have 173 boats entered in the race – 102 on the Cove Island course and 71 on the Shore course.  Currently we have three solid one-design classes – the C&C 35’s on the Shore course and the Beneteau 36.7’s and the J-120’s on the Cove Island course.

Pre-inspections of your boats will be available.  Just contact Bob Smith to pre-arrange the inspection.  Bob can be contacted at bob.smith252@gmail.com .

I am very pleased to announce that there is a new finish line trailer on the way for the Bell’s Beer Bayview Mackinac Race.  A big round of applause and “thank you’s” to Bob Nutter for accepting the challenge to steer this effort to fruition and also to the finish line captains, Paul Krietsch, Linda Evo and Patti Kommel, for their input on the needs of the finish line team and the skippers.  We’ve ordered the color of the trailer to be white in order to help facilitate the skippers to be able to see the trailer a little better, particularly at night and it should be here in plenty of time for this year’s race.

The 2017 SuperMack entry process has begun.  As you may recall, that race starts in Chicago and the boats entered sail through the CYC’s Race to Mackinac finish line and continue down Lake Huron to finish in Port Huron.  The Port Huron Yacht Club has the finish line team assembled and the Protest Committee under the capable hands of Commodore Ted Everingham will stand by as needed (hopefully not needed!).  To enter the 2017 SuperMack, please go to:  https://www.yachtscoring.com/emenu.cfm?eID=4222.

Racing starts over the next few weeks around here, so go out & have fun!  I’ll be back soon-
