Bayview Yacht Club is pleased to announce our continued partnership with Set Sail for Autism (SSA) for the 2018 sailing season. In cooperation with the Judson Center, Set Sail for Autism works to provide young adults affected by Autism the opportunity to demonstrate to the sailing community, and the public at large, their potential capabilities.
There are three events planned this year with Set Sail for Autism. The first event will occur on June 6that the 2018 Bell’s Beer Bayview Mackinac Race Media Day where four young adults affected by Autism will be part of honorary crews on the boats drawn to participate in the Detroit Sports Media Pro Team Challenge representing the Detroit Lions, Detroit Pistons, Detroit Red Wings and the Detroit Tigers.
The second event will be held on Thursday, June 28that Bayview Yacht Club where young adults affected by Autism and their families will participate in the SSA-J120 Thursday Night Challenge on the Detroit River. Owners and their crew of J120’s will welcome SSA guests aboard to experience a sailboat race on the Detroit River in front of the club. A barbeque and awards will be held afterwards on the lawn.
The third event is open to all Bell’s Beer Bayview Mackinac Race competitors. We are looking for boats to take a young adult affected by Autism and their family on their pre-race delivery up the St. Clair River to Port Huron.
